Graduate Research Assistant
January - May 2020
Marketing Department at the Lindner College of Business, University of Cincinnati

I worked as a Graduate Research Assistant for the Marketing department at the Lindner College of Business, University of Cincinnati while I was pursuing my Master’s degree.
My Job responsibilities included -
-
Facilitating smooth functioning of classes, assisting with grading, and moderating classroom/peer discussions. This was done both while classes were conducted in person and also later once they were remote.
-
I collaborated with the director of the marketing department and faculty to ensure that there was continued relevance of the program courses being offered. As the point of contact between the students and the professors, I was able to provide valuable feedback and support to both parties.
-
I also managed and executed research experiments in the marketing lab which had an average capacity of 400 participants per week. This work involved conducting the research experiments and controlling the environment to ensure the highest quality of results obtained. I briefed all participants and organized the administrative details.
-
As a graduate assistant for the entire marketing department, I was also on call for any faculty members that required assistance with tasks related to their courses, this became more relevant once the university shifted to remote learning and the classes had to be converted to an online format. I also attended a workshop on the same, which gave me a better understanding of Canvas, WebEx, and other digital platforms that would be helpful.
By serving as a Graduate Research Assistant I got the opportunity to work and interact with many knowledgeable faculty members. My organization and time management skills were also enhanced because I had to balance all of the work that had to be done along with my academic and other personal commitments. The biggest skill I honed at this time was perhaps that of adaptability. As the COVID-19 pandemic hit, there were a lot of changes and adjustments to be made in the student community. Being a Graduate assistant I was a witness to this and supported students, staff and professors during this time.
